The Five Acre Shaker is a two-day music festival taking place in the heart of Port Alberni over one weekend in August. The Shaker transforms the Alberni Fall Fair Grounds into a bustling space full of energetic live music, stunning visual art, yummy food, tasty beverages, a fun kids zone, and more.

The Shaker is an all-ages ticketed event. Kids 12 and under get in free while anyone over 12 must have a single-day or two-day ticket. There are lots of food and drink options, as well as camping onsite. The main stage live music goes from midday until sundown, followed by an afterparty inside the Kinsmen Centre with live DJs.

  • Where does The Shaker take place?

    This year’s edition of The Shaker takes place at the Alberni District Fall Fair grounds at 4090 Hollywood Street in Port Alberni, BC, Canada.

  • What time does The Shaker start?

    The gates for the Shaker open at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9 and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10.

  • What time does The Shaker go until?

    Live music on the mainstage goes until 11:00 p.m. each night. The afterparties go until 2:00 a.m.

  • Do I need a ticket for The Shaker?

    Yes. Tickets will soon be available soon through fiveacre.tickit.ca. Tickets are sold as either single day or weekend passes. Adults (19+) will have access to the afterparty event which runs from 11:00 to 2:00 am. Youth (13-18) have access until 11:00 pm and are available at a reduced price. Children 12 and under are free. Camping tickets must be purchased separately.

  • Where can I get tickets for The Shaker?

    You can purchase tickets online at fiveacre.tickit.ca. If you do not have the means to purchase tickets online, please get in touch with us.

  • What is your refund policy?

    Tickets are NON-refundable. They are transferable only at the set-out price and only Via the safe transfer system. (Link provided on the bottom of every ticket.) Please find additional ticket terms of sale at fiveacre.tickit.ca/terms.

  • Will I need a wristband? What happens if it breaks?

    Yes, when you enter the festival for the first time you will exchange your ticket for the corresponding wristband. Either a full-weekend wristband or a one-day wristband. Wristbands are non-transferable and must be worn all weekend for entry and while you’re at the festival. Any tampered wristbands won’t be accepted and there will be a $25 replacement fee for broken wristbands (original must be presented to exchange).

  • How do I get involved with The Shaker?

  • Can I go in and out of the festival as I please?

    Yes, you can come and go as you please. Just remember to keep your wristband on for re-entry.

  • Can I smoke cannabis or cigarettes inside The Shaker festival grounds?

    Yes, but only in our designated smoking area. All butts and roaches must be disposed of appropriately to eliminate fire risk and litter.

  • Can I buy food at The Shaker?

    Yes, there will be a variety of food options from local food trucks and snack vendors. We will put out the full list soon!

  • Can I buy adult beverages at The Shaker?

    Yes, of course! We will have a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Please do not bring your own beverages of any kind.

  • Can I bring my water bottle into The Shaker?

    Yes, please do! Hydration is key in that sweet summer Port Alberni heat. We just ask that you bring your water bottle in empty and fill it at one of our water stations.

  • What payment methods are accepted at The Shaker?

    All food, beverage, and market vendors will accept debit, credit, and cash.

  • What is the washroom situation at The Shaker?

    We will have portapotties onsite in both the festival and camping areas. There are also lots of flushing toilets in the Kinsmen Community Centre which will be open to guests.

  • What is there for kids to do?

    We will have a kids zone with art supplies, interactive games, and more to keep your little ones entertained when they need a break from boogie-ing.

  • Can I bring my dog to The Shaker?

    Only service dogs are permitted at The Shaker.

  • What items can I bring to The Shaker?

    Empty water bottles/containers, medical devices, snacks, small coolers, cigarettes/vapes, strollers, funky costumes, sweet (but small) signs, good vibes!

  • What items are banned at The Shaker?

    Weapons of any kind, outside beverages, drugs/narcotics, big umbrellas, glass bottles, noise makers, laser pointers, drones, and any other items deemed to be dangerous or inappropriate.
