The Five Acre Shaker
The inaugural Five Acre Shaker took place down Beaver Creek Road in 2014. Since then, it has brought over 75 musical acts to the Alberni Valley. The Shaker has moved from Beaver Creek Road to the McLean Mill to its current venue at the Alberni District Fall Fair Grounds in the heart of Port Alberni.
The 2024 edition of the Five Acre Shaker will feature 15+ bands and DJs on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10. We can’t wait to share the lineup with everyone and in the meantime, if you want to get involved in any capacity, please check out our

The zattzoo PROJECT
The inaugural Five Acre Shaker was held in memoriam of local Port Alberni musician, Zakk Coss, who we lost in 2014. Since then, The Zattzoo Project has been supporting the youth music scene in Port Alberni, including hosting an annual Battle of the Bands event for Vancouver Island musicians 25 and under.
The Zattzoo Project Battle of the Bands takes place on Saturday, June 8, 2024. First place will take home $2,000 and perform at the Five Acre Shaker. Both second place and the fan favourite receive $500. Finally, there are four separate prizes of $100 for best guitarist, best bass player, best drummer, and best singer.
